On the weekend I read an interesting article on work life flexibility and the considerations that people have on the hours they work and why. The real message is whether employers are just paying lip service to flexibility or truly committed to it in action; “Flexibility is a lovely thing to have in the workplace, if it’s genuine. Otherwise you are just bending over backwards slimming diet pills.” Ref Article: Rebecca Huntly, Daily life June 20 2014.
A colleague of mine recently commented that the lack of people in their office after 5pm indicated a lack of commitment to their work. I thought about this for quite some time; are we all still being measured by the hours we sit at a desk or the results we produce?
