The SA Bills were scheduled for the 2nd reading stage to commence in the Legislative Council October 14. The Committee stage, which is where amendments are moved and voted on, is unlikely to commence until 28 October.
An Opposition briefing was held last week at which 19 employer associations were asked for their views on the Bills and areas that the Opposition were negotiating with the Government on.
Minister Rau spoke at an EML breakfast yesterday (October 14th) and indicated strongly that the Bills were a “delicately balanced package” and the Government wanted them passed in their current format.
A further Ministerial briefing for the employer association is scheduled for tomorrow afternoon. Things will likely progress in the Legislative Council.
